Movement Therapy Classes

Group classes, courses, and individualised movement therapy.

iStock_officepilatesMany physical ailments such as lower back pain and neck pain are caused by our modern sedentary lifestyles. Our bodies were simply not designed for sitting long hours at desks and staring at computers!

Regular physical movement is central to a healthy life, our bodies are designed to move and move often! We need to stretch, bend, run, jump, and play. Physical movement supports healthy postural patterns which contribute to not only physical health, but also emotional resilience, a positive mindset, and healthy self esteem.

Group Classes

Our group classes are run as movement therapy courses, which run during each school term. The first two weeks of each term are sample weeks (see below) where casual classes are offered at a rate of $25, and you can bring a friend for free. The remainder of the term is then run as a course, where themes are introduced, and sequential classes allow for exercise progression for best results.

Individual Movement Assessment

If you are recovering from an accident, illness, or injury, it is a good idea to book in with one of our osteopaths for a Movement Assessment. The osteopath will take a detailed case history and take you through a range of movements to determine your pain-free mobility, and the types of movement that will best suit your body.

The osteopath will then make recommendations for you, such as a one-on-one movement therapy session to ensure your technique is correct and you are comfortable joining a group class. The osteopath will then inform your group class teacher so that all exercises are tailored to ensure your safety.

Individual Movement Assessment & Therapy for Children

We offer two types of individual movement therapy:

INPP neuro-motor assessment and exercise helps families, children and adults experiencing various challenges such as neuro-motor immaturity and auditory processing difficulties to enhance their learning potential. Non-invasive techniques are used to assess and address underlying developmental immaturity issues that can impede the learning process. Read more about INPP here.
Oro-facial muscle retraining assists your child with issue such as thumb sucking, nail biting, hair pulling, speech difficulties, and orthodontic issues. Oro-facial muscle retraining promotes healthy breathing, correct dentition, facial development and aligned posture. Read more about Oro-facial muscle retraining here.

Please ask your osteopath about individualised courses.
